DreamHack Favorites Team Preview
Derrick "Fetyukov" Murphy at Mon, Jun 14, 2010 14:22 - PDT
With the Dreamhack Event starting on Saturday (6/19) and Honcast flying out very soon to cover the event, here is a preview of a couple of the tournament favorites who plan to participate. This is only the beginning of our coverage for the Honcast event, so make sure to constantly tune in for updates ranging from pictures to team video interviews, and of course shoutcasts.
For a list of other teams that plan to attend the event as well, go here
Fnatic.MSI - [MSI]
Fnatic.MSI based in Finland/Germany has been a top competitor in the European scene for a long time, but it wasn’t until former ButtonBashers members Kay and Freshfrifly joined that they began getting top-tier. A lot of the community find this to be their favourite team (Since before it was ‘cool’ to like them) they’re consistently a fun team to watch. MSI often wins because they don’t let early game losing get to their heads, and on more than one occasion have won games that were almost certain defeats only 10 minutes earlier, whereas LOAD and fiVe almost always give way to the snowball effect.

What has your team been doing to get ready for the DreamHack event?
[MSI]kay` - We have been playing many inhouse games with teams like KDe and have been scrimming a lot as well, whenever we have 5 players on. Nothing really special though other than that.
How confident are you going into the tournament itself?
[MSI]kay` - I think we are going to the event as a team and we will be coming back as a team as well. Of course we want to win so we are very confident, especially since we are all in a very good mood for at the moment.
Do you think HoN is ready for such a big stage event?
[MSI]kay` - HoN is a really good game although it has some tweaks and bugs, but its still very good and this event will help the whole game grown even more, so yes it is.
KD-Gaming - [KDe]
KDe (KD gaming) is a European based team that has enjoyed minor success in European leagues. However, similar to MSI they didn’t really take off until the addition of two new members (In this case, H4nni and Levent, former DotA pros). Ever since they have been considered one of “The big four” and consistently put up a fight for any team they play against. The secret to their success is years of professional DotA experience, and each individual player is able to quickly make good decisions in a clutch situation, and as such “A poor play there by KDe” are words rarely heard on the honcasts.

What has your team been doing in getting prepared to compete at the HoN DreamHack Event?
[KDe]Kebap - we didnt do much lately but we will be bootcamping in blackbytes in germany from the 16th to the 19th
How confident are you going into the tournament itself?
[KDe]Kebap - were pretty confident going into the tournament since were all used to the lan atmosphere and if we wouldnt think we got a chance to get 1st place, we wouldn't be going.
Is HoN ready for such a big stage event?
[KDe]Kebap - definetly yeah, hon is getting better and better with each patch and im pretty sure hon is ready to play along with the big games like cs on such a big stage.
Druidz - [DrDz]
Druidz (the top all swedish team) is the newest of these big three teams on the HoN scene, however have already made a strong enough statement to receive a spot in last several top 10 community rankings. It is not neccesarily their success though that has brought community attention to them, but more so having Loda on their roster. Loda (long time DotA pro) has had a split following amongst the HoN community after several comments he made some months back, but has been competiting in several tournaments recently and looked pretty good. Other players on the roster as well are starting to shine in competitive play and amongst the competitive teams are very respected as being on a high tier level.

DrDz currently sits at #10 on the community polls
What has your team been doing in getting prepared to compete at the HoN DreamHack Event?
[DrDz]Ikzu - Akke has been away the last couple of days, Loda has been busy with school and then I have been busy with friends graduations.
So the last couple of days we havent trained much at all, however we are going to be training everyday until dreamhack from now on in the form of a bootcamp, where we plan to meet up with Fnatic.MSI and skirmish against them (bootcamp will be held at Game City in Jönköping).
How confident are you going into the tournament itself?
[DrDz]Ikzu - There are several great teams going to the event but we are confident enough to place at least third in the main tournament, but of course we are going to try our best to get first. We are more confident about the Swedish tournament tough, hopefully we take that one without any big problems.
Do you think HoN is ready for such a big stage event?
[DrDz]Ikzu - Yes absolutley, think this is exactly what HoN needs and hopefully with this, more events will be showing up.
